In the last weeks, other 3 countries have announced immediate plans to introduce new biometric IDs:
- Belarus will start on April 30
- Ivory Coast has started delivering biometric national ID cards, in full compliance with the Biometric ID Card program of the Economic Community of West African States (350 millions of citizens of 15 countries)
- Barbados will finally distribute their chip-based national identification cards to their citizens
Although Belarus and Ivory Coast are using the ICAO standard, it’s not yet clear if Barbados will also comply with it.
